11th European Conference on Tobacco Control

The 11^th European Conference on Tobacco Control is planned to be held by the Turkish Green Crescent Society and the International Federation of Green Crescent (IFGC) in cooperation with the European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention (ENSP) in Istanbul on November 4-6, 2026.

Electronic cigarettes and new generation nicotine products, nicotine addiction, which is on the rise among the youth, tobacco control policies, practices of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC), new strategies of tobacco industry, digital technologies and artificial intelligence-powered prevention approaches as well as international cooperation mechanisms are expected to be addressed during the Conference.

The Conference is aimed to contribute to the sharing on international platforms of Türkiye’s knowledge and experience in combatting tobacco and nicotine addiction, the development of scientific cooperations, the strengthening of evidence-based public health policies, and to the acceleration of national and international efforts aimed at preventing new generations from addictions. It is also aimed to increase Türkiye’s visibility in the area of international public health diplomacy.

World Science Forum 2027

The World Science Forum (WSF) 2027 is planned to be held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye in Istanbul in March 2027. The Forum, which will be hosted by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) in cooperation with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the International Science Council (ISC), the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), is a prestigious international platform that strengthens dialogue in the area of science among societies at global scale.

The World Science Forum, which has been held every two years since 1999, brings together scientists, policy-makers, representatives of international organizations, academies as well as private sector and nongovernmental organizations on a shared platform. The WSF 2027 Istanbul, which is planned to be held with the theme of “Science in Times of Global Crises: Transcending Boundaries in a Fragmented World”, is aimed to contribute to the development of science-based solution proposals in the topics of global resilience, sustainability, ethics and responsibility as well as science diplomacy, and to further strengthen Türkiye’s visibility in international science diplomacy.

TÜBA Science Awards

Following awards are granted within the framework of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Science Awards to be held by TÜBA under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye: International Academy Prizes, Outstanding Young Scientists Awards, and Scientific Authored Book Awards.

International Academy Prizes

It was launched in 2015 to encourage and reward scientists whose works and scientific contributions are appreciated around the world and who carry out unique and pioneering works in relevant fields, as well as to promote the Turkish scientific community in the global arena. Comprised of three categories, namely Social Sciences and Humanities, Health and Life Sciences, and Engineering and Natural Sciences, one award is granted to the nominees in each category every year. The laureates are designated by the Academy Council based on the opinions of native and foreign peers as well as the evaluations of field committees.

Outstanding Young Scientists Awards (TÜBA-GEBİP)

It was launched in 2001 to take young scientists, distinguished in our country by their research, under the Academy’s umbrella and provide them with the academic and financial support and incentives they need. The TÜBA-GEBİP Awards are granted to promising scientists with great potential who represent our country abroad and make scientific contributions to Türkiye’s National Technology Initiative.

The TÜBA-GEBİP Awards are open to applications from young scientists under the age of 40 who work in any field of science, have a specialization in health sciences or hold a PhD in other fields of science, and are currently working in Türkiye or have decided to work in Türkiye. In addition, as part of the TÜBA-GEBİP Awards, the “Ahmet and Nezahat Keleşoğlu TÜBA-GEBİP Pharmacy Special Award” is presented to an outstanding young scientist with scientific research, projects and works in the field of pharmacy.

Scientific Authored Book Awards (TÜBA-TESEP)

Within the scope of the TÜBA-TESEP Awards, launched in 2008, thematic awards, namely “Halil İnalcık Special Award”, “Fuat Sezgin Special Award”, “Kemal Karpat Special Award”, “Mehmet Genç Special Award” and “Jury Special Award” may be conferred by the Academy Council upon the works published in specific fields of science by the decision of the Academy Council, created in honor of the TÜBA Honorary Members who have contributed to the global science in their respective fields and made our country proud with their national and international achievements.

Presidential Handball Cup

The Presidential Handball Cup, which was organized by the Turkish Handball Federation under the Presidency with the aims of increasing the sporting competitive capacity and the corporate visibility of the Turkish handball, and of bringing together the leading women’s and men’s handball clubs, was held in Ankara on August 25-26, 2026. 

The organization was held at Prof. Dr. Yaşar Sevim Handball Hall with the participation of a total of eight teams in men’s and women’s categories. A total of six matches, four of them semi-finals and two finals, were played during the two-day organization. The semi-finals were broadcast live on TRT Spor Yıldız channel, whereas the women’s and men’s finals on TRT Spor.

955th Anniversary of the Conquest of Anatolia, Commemoration of the Victory of Manzikert

The 955^th of the Commemorative Events of the Victory of Manzikert, 1071, which have been organized by the Archers Foundation under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye since 2017 to commemorate the Battle of Manzikert, which had affected both the Turkish and world history on August 26, 1071, and to keep this important victory’s memory alive, were held simultaneously in Ahlat and Malazgirt on August 23-26, 2026 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Traditional sports such as archery, mounted archery, wrestling, and jereed (equestrian javelin) as well as various cultural activities reflecting Turkish culture were also featured at the nomad campsites.

The events, which served as a meeting point for history, culture, and traditional sports over the course of four days, were concluded with an address to the public by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Through the events marking the 955^th anniversary of the Victory of Manzikert, 1071, the significance of the victory in Turkish history was once again highlighted, and a major organization was held with the aim of passing on national and cultural values ​​to future generations.

2026 UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup and UEC MTB European Championships

Organized by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, the UEC Mountain Bike European Championship was held on June 6-7, 2026, and the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup on June 13-14, 2026, at the Sakarya Sunflower Bicycle Valley.

Within the scope of the organizations, 49 athletes from 16 countries participated in the European Championship and 51 athletes from 13 countries participated in the World Cup races. The races, in which elite athletes from different countries of the world competed, were among the important organizations of the international cycling community.

The events, which lasted for two weeks, included races and festival activities that were followed by more than 40,000 sports enthusiasts in total. Awareness campaigns aimed at promoting cycling were also carried out through various events and raffles held throughout the organization.

The races were broadcast live in more than 112 countries, contributing to the international promotion of Türkiye’s strength in sporting events and Sakarya's identity as a “Cycling City”.

Presidential Equestrian Jumping Cup

The Presidential Equestrian Jumping Cup will be organized by the Turkish Equestrian Federation under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye at the Ankara Equestrian Club between October 2-4, 2026.

The Presidential Equestrian Jumping Cup, planned to be held with the participation of nearly 300 athletes from different provinces of Türkiye, aims to introduce equestrian sports to wider segments of society, bring young people together with sports, spread love for animals and raise awareness of nature, and increase the national and international visibility of Turkish sports.

The competitions to be held within the scope of the organization are planned to take place on courses set up in a 4000 square meter competition area, with obstacle categories ranging from 1 meter to 10 meters in height, and will include athletes from different age groups.

The National Internship Program

The National Internship Program, which has brought together hundreds of thousands of university students with public institutions and private establishments since 2020, will be run under the auspices of the Presidency and under the coordination of the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) starting in 2026.

The program aims to facilitate the transition of young people into the work life, enable them to gain professional experience, and support equal opportunities in accessing career opportunities.

Within the program, students are evaluated using a transparent and innovative assessment model that takes into account their academic/professional, artistic/social, and athletic competencies; employers, on the other hand, send internship offers to candidates based solely on the scores they receive in these competency areas, without seeing the students' identity or university information.

In addition to its successful results domestically, the National Internship Program has attracted international attention and been cited as a model practice by the OECD. The program aims to significantly contribute to enabling young people to get to know the business world while they are still students, to gain career awareness, and to increase their employability.

61st Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye

The Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye, which began in 1963 as the Marmara Tour, gained international recognition in 1966, and has been organized under the auspices of the Presidency since 1968, continues to make significant contributions to the promotion of Türkiye and the development of Turkish cycling by showcasing Türkiye 's natural beauty, cultural heritage, and historical richness to millions of viewers through international television broadcasts.

Organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation under the auspices of the Presidency and with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the 61^st Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye took place between April 26 and May 3, 2026.

The Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye, which is included in the UCI's ProSeries calendar of European Tours and is the most prestigious road cycling stage race in Türkiye, started from İzmir-Çeşme on Sunday, April 26th, and ended in front of the Presidential Complex in Ankara on Sunday, May 3rd, after eight stages, with the participation of 158 athletes from 23 teams consisting of world-renowned professional cyclists.

Sebastian Berwick, an Australian cyclist from the Spanish team Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, won the 2026 General Classification and the Turquoise Jersey. Berwick also finished first in the Best Climber Classification. Davide Ballerini, an Italian cyclist from the XDS Astana Team, took first place in the Sprint Classification, while Mustafa Tarakçı from the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports team won the Beauties of Türkiye Classification.

The 61^st Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye 2026 route, totaling 1,133 kilometers, consisted of the following stages:

SAHA 2026 International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition

SAHA 2026 International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition, organized by SAHA EXPO Exhibition Services Inc, was held by SAHA Istanbul Defence and Aerospace Cluster Association under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye at Istanbul Expo Center on May 5-9, 2026.

The 5^th SAHA 2026 International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition was held in a total exhibition area of 400,000 square meters, including a 100,000-square-meter indoor exhibition hall and a 20,000-square-meter outdoor exhibition hall. Having hosted 1,548 participating firms and a total of 148,872 visitors, the fair brought together with the most current capabilities in the areas defense, aerospace, navigation, security, unmanned systems, artificial intelligence, advanced production and new generation technologies with sectoral professionals, official delegations, trade delegations and visitors.

105 trade delegations and 158 members of trade delegations attended the SHA 2026, which hosted 204 official delegations and 819 members of official delegations from 75 countries. 28,947 bilateral meetings, 218 product launches and 216 signing ceremonies with global ramifications, were held. Nearly 8 billion dollars of these cooperations consisted of export-oriented agreements.

Presidential Golf Cup

The Turkish Golf Federation (TGF) Presidential Cup, which is planned to be held by the TGF under the auspices of the Presidency with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, aims to promote the golf sport across the country, support the development of young athletes and demonstrate the uniting power of sports by bringing together athletes of different age groups on the same platform.

The TGF Presidential Cup is planned to be held at TGF Silivri Golf Facility in Istanbul on May 14-17, 2026. The level reached in the sport of golf in our country is aimed to be revealed with the Cup, which will be held with the participation of athletes from different parts of Türkiye.

Academic and Scientific Cooperation Project of Türkiye (TABİP)

Cooperation was cultivated with a large number of universities, research centers and institutions; activities of joint research and development were supported; and the international promotion of Türkiye’s scientific capacity was incentivized within the framework of the Academic and Scientific Cooperation Project of Türkiye (TABİP by its Turkish acronym), which is conducted by the Yunus Emre Institute under the auspices of the Presidency of Republic of Türkiye. The TAPİB Portal, which brings together academics, researchers and students from across the world, was launched and an academic and scientific network was formed at a global scale as part of the project.

Throughout the project, scientific exchange and knowledge transfer were supported by offering scholarships and cooperation opportunities for international researchers through the Point of Contact Fellowship Program (PoCFP). In addition, programs and events such as TABİP Academy, TABİP Scientific Summer School, TABİP Lecture Series and Science Diplomacy Talks were held; and conferences, workshops and academic gatherings were organized in cooperation with universities. Furthermore, contributions were made to the international promotion activities of TEKNOFEST.

Moreover, activities aimed at increasing scientific awareness were carried out through STEM and robotics coding trainings, science classroom applications, observation nights, as well as science museums and planetariums; and international brand meetings and entrepreneurship events were organized. Within the scope of promotion and communication efforts, visibility was ensured at both national and international levels through advertising, media, and digital platforms, thereby introducing Türkiye’s scientific and academic expertise to the global public.

14th International Conquest Cup

Organized in 2013 for the first time and held every successive year since then, the International Conquest Cup, besides being an organization where athletes from the categories of both traditional and modern archery compete together, has also a mission to underline the conquest of Istanbul.

860 athletes from 52 countries in the branches of traditional and modern archery participated in the 14^th International Conquest Cup, which was organized by the Archers Foundation under the auspices of the Presidency on June 3-7, 2026.

13th International Conquest Cup

Organized in 2013 for the first time and held every successive year since then, the International Conquest Cup, besides being an organization where athletes from the categories of both traditional and modern archery compete together, has also a mission to underline the conquest of Istanbul.

507 athletes from 26 countries in the branch of traditional archery and 203 athletes from 25 countries in the branch of modern archery participated in the 13th International Conquest Cup, which was organized by the Archers Foundation under the auspices of the Presidency on May 26-29, 2025.

Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye

The Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye is an impressive and successful road race that is one of the international sports organizations held in our country dating back over half a century.

The Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye (TUR) started in 1963 with the name of “Marmara Tour”, gained international status in 1965 and was taken under the auspices of the Presidency in 1966. The Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye (TUR), which contributes to the development of the Turkish cycling and holds a prestigious place in the branch of cycling globally, continues to host world-renowned cycling teams within Türkiye’s natural and historical treasures.

The 62^nd Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye will be held in 2027 by the Turkish Cycling Federation under the auspices of the Presidency and with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Presidential Basketball Cup

The Presidential Basketball Cup, which is planned to be held by the Turkish Basketball Federation under the auspices of the Presidency, aims to promote basketball in our country, introduce the competition between the clubs to broader masses, increase the popularity of sports within the society, underscore the importance Türkiye attaches to sports, and reinforce the spirit of Fair Play.

The Presidential Basketball Cup was awarded in the men’s category in 1985 for the first time, and in 1993 in the women’s category. The organization is annually held between the league and cup champions of last year prior to the season in the men’s category, and in the middle of the season in the women’s category in a single match.

International Presidential Yacht Races

The International Presidential Yacht Races, one of the most prestigious sea sports organizations held in Türkiye, aims to help promote our country globally.

The 7^th International Presidential Yacht Races, which is organized by the Istanbul Offshore Yacht Race Club, will be held under the auspices of the Presidency, with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in cooperation with the Türkiye Sailing Federation, in four legs in 2026.

2025 UCI MTB Eliminator World Championships and World Cup

The 2025 UCI MTB Eliminator World Championships and World Cup are planned to be held in Sakarya under the auspices of the Presidency in coordination with the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality.

The 2025 UCI MTB Eliminator World Championships and the 2025 UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup, which will bring together athletes from all across the world, are expected to take place on June 21-22, 2025, and on August 9-10, 2025, respectively.

It is aimed with the 2025 UCI MTB Eliminator World Championships and World Cup, which will be broadcast live in 110 countries, that Türkiye’s international reputation in the area of sports will be increased, the youth will be brought together by means of sports and healthy lifestyle culture will be promoted.

IDEF 2025 17th International Defence Industry Fair

IDEF 2025 17th International Defence Industry Fair will be hosted by the Ministry of National Defense under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye with the contributions of the Secretariat of Defense Industries of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and under the management and responsibility of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TSKGV) between July 22-27, 2025, at Istanbul Expo Center.

An established event in global defense industry, the fair is expected to be held this year with major innovations. In addition to the 11 halls of the Istanbul Expo Center, the outdoor and indoor areas of Atatürk Airport, the maritime vehicles exhibition area of Ataköy Marina, and the WoW Hotels Convention Center will offer a new experience for all participants and visitors of IDEF 2025.

IDEF 2025 aims to showcase the cutting-edge technologies in defense industry and promote a wide range of products and services ranging from land, sea and air systems to defense electronics and security equipment. The fair serves not only as an event displaying innovations but also as a platform creating global cooperation opportunities and boosting knowledge sharing and professional interactions.

International Hadith Symposium

As one of the fundamental resources of Islamic thought and civilization history, the science of hadith has both shaped the religious reference system and played a founding role in the formation of scientific methodologies. The process of the identification, transfer and interpretation of Prophet Muhammad’s sayings and actions has not only ensured the generation of religious knowledge but also shaped social values, morals and scientific mentality.

In this sense, it is aimed with the “International from Tradition to the Future Hadith Symposium”, which is planned to be held under the auspices of the Presidency in coordination with Çankırı Karatekin University, that the journey of hadith and other Islamic sciences from Prophet Muhammad to the modern times and their status in the future will be assessed, and scientific contributions will be made to literature by holding consultations on joint areas of work.

Specialist academics from home and abroad are expected to participate in the Symposium. It is planned during the sessions that the emergence, development and current status of the hadith science will be addressed with a multidimensional perspective, and that the relations of this science with other Islamic disciplines, the historical legacy of such classical scientific institutions as Darulhadis and new opportunities and challenges faced by the science of hadith in the modern era will be discussed on a scientific platform.

Antarctica Scientific Research Base Project

It is known that scientists have been conducting important researches on various topics ranging from energy, fishery, geology and medicine to chemistry, astronomy and climate change in Antarctica, which possesses rich reserves of minerals and water.

The Antarctic Treaty, signed by 12 consultative countries in 1959 with the aim of securing Antarctica as a nature reserve dedicated to peace and science, entered into force in 1961, and Türkiye acceded to it in 1995. The treaty is still in effect today with the participation of 29 “consultative countries” and 27 “non-consultative countries”. Pursuant to the Treaty clauses, a country should organize regular scientific expeditions to the continent and carry out noteworthy scientific research activities there and the Southern Ocean surrounding the continent to acquire the status of “consultative state” in the Antarctic Treaty System. In this sense, setting up a permanent scientific research base there has been determined as a priority. 

Our country, with the National Antarctica Science Expeditions organized annually as part of the National Polar Science Expeditions and Activities conducted under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and under the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Technology since 2017, uninterruptedly continues its works to have a say in the future of the White Continent. Türkiye, by continuing to participate as a “non-consultative party” in the meetings held within the Antarctica Treaty, which was signed in 1959 and to which we became a party in 1995, and by proving its interest in the continent with comprehensive research studies it has been carrying out in such areas as scientific works to logistical activities, keeps taking concrete and sustainable steps to acquire the status of “consultative party”.

The Turkish scientists, who have set their feet on the White Continent seventh times as of 2023 with the National Polar Science Expeditions, carry out long-term monitoring works and record temporal changes in the region with the Automated Meteorological Observing Stations and the Global Satellite Positioning Systems built in previous years in Horseshoe Island, which is located in the 68° southern latitude and is home to the Turkish Scientific Research Camp set up in 2019. Also, they carry out researches in a wide range of areas, including physical sciences, earth sciences, life sciences as well as social sciences and humanities, in Horseshoe Island and its vicinity with the fieldworks where domestic and national products are used actively. Regular annual scientific research expeditions are organized to the Arctic Region with the aim of monitoring the effects of the global climate change on both of the polar regions.

Bilateral cooperation agreements were signed with 10 countries (Brazil, Bulgaria, Czechia, Ecuador, South Korea, Spain, Japan, Peru, Chile and Ukraine) within the Antarctica Treaty in order to increase Türkiye’s international visibility and to improve scientific works. As of 2023, these agreements have enabled 14 foreign researchers to conduct researches in the White Continent through the Turkish Science Expeditions and to carry out joint works with Turkish scientists. As a result of these agreements, over 20 Turkish scientists have been able to carry out works at stations and on ships of foreign countries in Antarctica as well.

Works to build a permanent scientific research base in Horseshoe Island in Antarctica continue at full speed. The design phases were completed and the Environmental Impact Assessment Report was presented in 2021 to the countries party to the Antarctica Treaty. After the stationing of this base, which will allow scientists to carry out long-term works, in the continent in the upcoming years, our country, with the status of “consultative state”, will have gotten one step closer to its goal of having a say in the future of the White Continent.

Seljuk Sources Collection

The Seljuk Sources Collection Project, planned to be conducted under the auspices of the Presidency and under the coordination of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, aims to translate into Turkish the essential works on the Seljuk history, including its sociocultural and scientific life, and the development of its economy and architecture, to make the Seljuk heritage known to a wider audience in our country and to facilitate academic studies.

Within the scope of the project, it is planned to conduct a corpus study that includes all the sources on Seljuk history and the five Seljuk states founded by the Seljuks (the Great Seljuks, the Seljuks of Türkiye, the Seljuks of Iraq, the Seljuks of Kerman and the Seljuks of Syria-Palestine).

Within the framework of this collection, which will be launched with the support of academics and translators who are experts in their fields, it is aimed to translate nearly 140 works on Seljuk Turkish-Islamic history into Turkish from Arabic, Persian, Latin, Greek, Syriac, Armenian and Georgian in approximately 90 volumes.

Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards

The Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards are granted on behalf of the Turkish State to Turkish citizens, those of foreign descent and agencies that have demonstrated outstanding skill with their original works of art or services, that contribute to the Turkish cultural and art life and that promote the country’s culture and arts for the purpose of honoring and encouraging these people.

In this context, the  2025 Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards were granted to Prof. Süleyman Seyfi Öğün in the field of science and culture, Yalçın Gökçebağ in the field of art, Yalçın Tura in the field of music, Prof. Fahri Işık in the field of Anatolian archaeology, and Ali Jadallah in the field of photography.

The Turkish Heritage Project

The Turkish Heritage Project, carried out under the auspices of the Presidency by Konya Chamber of Scholars, aimed to address the Turkish culture’s contributions to other cultures and to draw attention to the areas, where the Turkish culture universally has reigned over.

With the project, the relations between Central Asian and Mesopotamian cultures were examined; the values that constitute the Turkish culture and the relations between these values were unearthed; and the Turkish culture’s historical stages of development were revealed. A six-volume work and a 12-episode documentary were prepared as part of the project.

TÜBA and TÜBİTAK Awards

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Awards, the most important and prestigious awards in Turkish scientific world, were presented to the awardees during a ceremony held at the Presidential Complex on December 27, 2023.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during his speech at the ceremony, said that 77 scientists had been awarded by TÜBİTAK and TÜBA in 2023, and congratulated the awardees.

In the categories of Basic and Engineering Sciences, Health and Life Sciences and Social Sciences and Humanities, 3 TUBA Academy Prizes were awarded.

The Outstanding Young Scientists Awards were presented to 34 young scientists from 24 different universities and institutions.

The Scientific Authored Book Awards were presented to 13 Turkish scientific works.

Within the scope of the TÜBİTAK Awards, scientists from 21 different universities and research institutions were awarded 7 Science Awards, 1 Special Award, 1 Service Award and 18 Encouragement Awards.

Turkish-Islamic Scientific and Cultural Heritage Project

The Turkish-Islamic Scientific and Cultural Heritage Project, launched in 2014 by the Turkish Academy of Sciences and conducted under the auspices of the Presidency, is aimed at publishing books authored, translated to and annotated in Ottoman Turkish, Arabic, Farsi, and other Turkish dialects produced within the boundaries of the Turkish-Islamic civilization.

Within the framework of the project, works which will enlighten our past and future will be transliterated, facsimiled, translated and researched, thus introducing them to national and international public, and offering them to the benefit of people of science and culture and future generations.

Aivazovsky’s Istanbul International Exhibition and Concerts Project

The Aivazovsky’s Istanbul International Exhibition and Concerts Project aims to introduce the paintings of Aivazovsky to the audience via music, and to bring music, visual arts, technology, history and ambient sound all together.

The Aivazovsky’s Istanbul Project was held at Moscow International House of Music Concert Hall in December 2017 in a gala-concert format under the auspices of the Presidency with the contributions of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish Airlines and the Turkish Embassy in Moscow.

In April 2018, it was held with the contributions of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yunus Emre Institute, Historical and Cultural Center Lichnost Peterburga, Turkish Airlines and Türk Telekom at the State Russian Museum St. Michael’s Castle Hall on the occasion of Aivazovsky’s 200th birthday anniversary and the 120th anniversary of the opening of the State Russian Museum.

The next event as part of the project is planned to be held as a public concert at Moscow International House of Music Concert Hall on April 11, 2019.

Project ‘Don’t Underestimate Me!’

‘Don’t Underestimate Me!’ is a social transformation and training project aimed at enabling to generate quality information, to convey it to the target group accurately and effectively, to transform quality information into social values embraced countrywide, and at ensuring that those in possession of quality information say ‘Count me in!’ and come to forefront with their teaching identity.  

It is aimed that information transfer mechanisms are adequately established for the swift dissemination of information, generated in every area with the project, across the society.

The project makes available for its stakeholders and all the participants a strong infrastructure, developed from scratch with domestic and national resources, which incorporates information development and transfer technologies such as learning management and live broadcast systems; video, document and news portals; etc.

Project ‘Don’t Underestimate Me’, an embodiment of state-people cooperation, partners up with many state institutions as project stakeholders in the name of ensuring a sustainable and productive environment, and aims to bring together the state’s knowledge and experience and all the citizens who say, ‘count me in’ and to encourage them to produce.

Sultan Abdulhamid II Yıldız Palace Collection of Photographs Project

The project, carried out by Istanbul University and Yıldız Technical University, is aimed at digitizing a photography collection of 36,585 items, taken at the end of the 19th century and in the beginning of the 20th century on the order of Sultan Abdulhamid II, and currently preserved at the Rare Works Library of Istanbul University.

Transferring the collection to future generations, preserving assets of cultural heritage and providing digital access to the collection are among the basic objectives of the project. An exhibition, titled “Encounters and Crosspaths in Ottoman-French Relations in mid-19th Century, through the Collection of photographs of the Yıldız Palace”, will be held at UNESCO House in Paris between April 6th and 11th.

The 36,585 photographs in the collection display all the richness and diversity of the 19th century. The digitalization and processing of this rich photograph collection to the database are carried out by the joint works of Istanbul University and the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT).

As part of the project, a series of events have been held and a number of publications have been published about the diplomatic relations in the last period of the Ottoman Empire. The events have taken place in several countries, including France, Germany, the UK, the U.S. and Russia.

The first of these events was an exhibition, which was titled “Encounters and Crosspaths in Ottoman-French Relations in mid-19th Century, through Yıldız Palace Collection of Photographs”, and which was held at UNESCO House in Paris on April 6-11, 2017. A book, which was titled “Ottoman-German Relations through Yıldız Palace Collection of Photographs”, and which was published in both Turkish and German, was introduced at Frankfurter Buchmesse (Frankfurt Book Fair) on October 11-15, 2017, and a photograph exhibition with the same theme was held at Türkiye’s embassy in Berlin for a month as of November 28, 2017. Another book, titled “British-Ottoman Relations through Yıldız Palace Collection of Photographs”, was introduced at the London Book Fair on April 10-12, and photographs were shared at a digital exhibition.

As part of the Türkiye-Russia 2019 Culture and Tourism Year, a photograph exhibition, titled “Looking at Czarist Russia through Yıldız Palace Collection of Photographs”, was held on April 3, 2019 at the building of the Russian State Historical Archive in Saint Petersburg, and an exhibition book in Turkish and Russian was published.

569th Anniversary of the Conquest of Istanbul

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the 569^th anniversary celebrations of Istanbul’s conquest and the ceremony for plantation of the first sapling at Atatürk Airport Nation’s Garden in Istanbul.

The first sapling of the 145,300 trees symbolizing the conquest of Istanbul on May 29, 1453 was planted with the participation of President Erdoğan. First Lady Emine Erdoğan and 100 children, including those from houses of affection, accompanied the President during the event.

The 569^th anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul was celebrated with great enthusiasm with the participation of 560 thousand people.
