Presidential Run

The Presidential Run was held by the Türkiye Athletics Federation under the auspices of the Presidency with the aims of positioning Ankara at a global scale in the area of endurance sports, preparing it as the first city to be a candidate for the Abbott World Marathon Majors (WMM) series from Türkiye, and increasing its international visibility.

The organization was held in the categories of 4.4K Public Run, 10K Progression Run and 21K International Half Marathon. Wheelchair athletes in 21K race and special athletes in other distances also competed in the organization, which was completed with over four thousand contestants, including participators from 53 countries as well as national athletes, amateur runners and citizens from our country.

Presidential Handball Cup

The Presidential Handball Cup, which was organized by the Turkish Handball Federation under the Presidency with the aims of increasing the sporting competitive capacity and the corporate visibility of the Turkish handball, and of bringing together the leading women’s and men’s handball clubs, was held in Ankara on August 25-26, 2026.

The organization was held at Prof. Dr. Yaşar Sevim Handball Hall with the participation of a total of eight teams in men’s and women’s categories. A total of six matches, four of them semi-finals and two finals, were played during the two-day organization. The semi-finals were broadcast live on TRT Spor Yıldız channel, whereas the women’s and men’s finals on TRT Spor.

955th Anniversary of the Conquest of Anatolia, Commemoration of the Victory of Manzikert

The 955^th of the Commemorative Events of the Victory of Manzikert, 1071, which have been organized by the Archers Foundation under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye since 2017 to commemorate the Battle of Manzikert, which had affected both the Turkish and world history on August 26, 1071, and to keep this important victory’s memory alive, were held simultaneously in Ahlat and Malazgirt on August 23-26, 2026 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Traditional sports such as archery, mounted archery, wrestling, and jereed (equestrian javelin) as well as various cultural activities reflecting Turkish culture were also featured at the nomad campsites.

The events, which served as a meeting point for history, culture, and traditional sports over the course of four days, were concluded with an address to the public by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Through the events marking the 955^th anniversary of the Victory of Manzikert, 1071, the significance of the victory in Turkish history was once again highlighted, and a major organization was held with the aim of passing on national and cultural values to future generations.

14th International Conquest Cup

Organized in 2013 for the first time and held every successive year since then, the International Conquest Cup, besides being an organization where athletes from the categories of both traditional and modern archery compete together, has also a mission to underline the conquest of Istanbul.

860 athletes from 52 countries in the branches of traditional and modern archery participated in the 14^th International Conquest Cup, which was organized by the Archers Foundation under the auspices of the Presidency on June 3-7, 2026.

2026 UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup and UEC MTB European Championships

Organized by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, the UEC Mountain Bike European Championship was held on June 6-7, 2026, and the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup on June 13-14, 2026, at the Sakarya Sunflower Bicycle Valley.

Within the scope of the organizations, 49 athletes from 16 countries participated in the European Championship and 51 athletes from 13 countries participated in the World Cup races. The races, in which elite athletes from different countries of the world competed, were among the important organizations of the international cycling community.

The events, which lasted for two weeks, included races and festival activities that were followed by more than 40,000 sports enthusiasts in total. Awareness campaigns aimed at promoting cycling were also carried out through various events and raffles held throughout the organization.

The races were broadcast live in more than 112 countries, contributing to the international promotion of Türkiye’s strength in sporting events and Sakarya's identity as a “Cycling City”.

61st Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye

The Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye, which began in 1963 as the Marmara Tour, gained international recognition in 1966, and has been organized under the auspices of the Presidency since 1968, continues to make significant contributions to the promotion of Türkiye and the development of Turkish cycling by showcasing Türkiye 's natural beauty, cultural heritage, and historical richness to millions of viewers through international television broadcasts.

Organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation under the auspices of the Presidency and with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the 61^st Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye took place between April 26 and May 3, 2026.

The Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye, which is included in the UCI's ProSeries calendar of European Tours and is the most prestigious road cycling stage race in Türkiye, started from İzmir-Çeşme on Sunday, April 26th, and ended in front of the Presidential Complex in Ankara on Sunday, May 3rd, after eight stages, with the participation of 158 athletes from 23 teams consisting of world-renowned professional cyclists.

Sebastian Berwick, an Australian cyclist from the Spanish team Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, won the 2026 General Classification and the Turquoise Jersey. Berwick also finished first in the Best Climber Classification. Davide Ballerini, an Italian cyclist from the XDS Astana Team, took first place in the Sprint Classification, while Mustafa Tarakçı from the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Sports team won the Beauties of Türkiye Classification.

The 61^st Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye 2026 route, totaling 1,133 kilometers, consisted of the following stages:

SAHA 2026 International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition

SAHA 2026 International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition, organized by SAHA EXPO Exhibition Services Inc, was held by SAHA Istanbul Defence and Aerospace Cluster Association under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye at Istanbul Expo Center on May 5-9, 2026.

The 5^th SAHA 2026 International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition was held in a total exhibition area of 400,000 square meters, including a 100,000-square-meter indoor exhibition hall and a 20,000-square-meter outdoor exhibition hall. Having hosted 1,548 participating firms and a total of 148,872 visitors, the fair brought together with the most current capabilities in the areas defense, aerospace, navigation, security, unmanned systems, artificial intelligence, advanced production and new generation technologies with sectoral professionals, official delegations, trade delegations and visitors.

105 trade delegations and 158 members of trade delegations attended the SHA 2026, which hosted 204 official delegations and 819 members of official delegations from 75 countries. 28,947 bilateral meetings, 218 product launches and 216 signing ceremonies with global ramifications, were held. Nearly 8 billion dollars of these cooperations consisted of export-oriented agreements.

Presidential Golf Cup

The Turkish Golf Federation (TGF) Presidential Cup, which is planned to be held by the TGF under the auspices of the Presidency with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, aims to promote the golf sport across the country, support the development of young athletes and demonstrate the uniting power of sports by bringing together athletes of different age groups on the same platform.

The TGF Presidential Cup is planned to be held at TGF Silivri Golf Facility in Istanbul on May 14-17, 2026. The level reached in the sport of golf in our country is aimed to be revealed with the Cup, which will be held with the participation of athletes from different parts of Türkiye.

Academic and Scientific Cooperation Project of Türkiye (TABİP)

Cooperation was cultivated with a large number of universities, research centers and institutions; activities of joint research and development were supported; and the international promotion of Türkiye’s scientific capacity was incentivized within the framework of the Academic and Scientific Cooperation Project of Türkiye (TABİP by its Turkish acronym), which is conducted by the Yunus Emre Institute under the auspices of the Presidency of Republic of Türkiye. The TAPİB Portal, which brings together academics, researchers and students from across the world, was launched and an academic and scientific network was formed at a global scale as part of the project.

Throughout the project, scientific exchange and knowledge transfer were supported by offering scholarships and cooperation opportunities for international researchers through the Point of Contact Fellowship Program (PoCFP). In addition, programs and events such as TABİP Academy, TABİP Scientific Summer School, TABİP Lecture Series and Science Diplomacy Talks were held; and conferences, workshops and academic gatherings were organized in cooperation with universities. Furthermore, contributions were made to the international promotion activities of TEKNOFEST.

Moreover, activities aimed at increasing scientific awareness were carried out through STEM and robotics coding trainings, science classroom applications, observation nights, as well as science museums and planetariums; and international brand meetings and entrepreneurship events were organized. Within the scope of promotion and communication efforts, visibility was ensured at both national and international levels through advertising, media, and digital platforms, thereby introducing Türkiye’s scientific and academic expertise to the global public.

The Turkish Heritage Project

The Turkish Heritage Project, carried out under the auspices of the Presidency by Konya Chamber of Scholars, aimed to address the Turkish culture’s contributions to other cultures and to draw attention to the areas, where the Turkish culture universally has reigned over.

With the project, the relations between Central Asian and Mesopotamian cultures were examined; the values that constitute the Turkish culture and the relations between these values were unearthed; and the Turkish culture’s historical stages of development were revealed. A six-volume work and a 12-episode documentary were prepared as part of the project.

Year of the Family

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had announced 2025 as the “Year of the Family”.

The “Year of the Family”, coordinated by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, under the auspices of the Presidency, aimed to make our families more resilient against the hazards of the modern age, glorify our ancient values, and raise awareness about the importance of family.

Throughout 2025, nationwide events were conducted to underscore the importance of family and the meaning of being a family, and innovative social policies were implemented to protect the roots of our family structure. Numerous projects and activities were carried out that consolidated the unity and solidarity of our families, provided economic benefits for their protection and strengthening, raised awareness, and contributed to the socio-cultural development of families.

11th World Halal Summit & Halal EXPO 2025

The 11th World Halal Summit and Halal EXPO 2025 was held by Discover Events Fair and Organization under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye at the Istanbul EXPO Center on November 26-29, 2025.

Experts and decision makers addressed critical issues and opportunities of the halal economy during the World Halal Summit, with 48 speakers sharing their views on halal standardization, trade, food safety and ethical work practices in 10 sessions. 2,500 B2B contacts as well as business meetings among seven different countries took place as part of the organization. 497 institutions/establishments/companies from 38 countries as well as around 500 purchasing specialists and about 32 thousand visitors from 113 countries participated in the Halal Expo Fair.

The 11th World Halal Summit & Halal EXPO 2025 featured on 91 national TV and radio channels, and reached a wide audience via 110 publications on national print media.

6th International Presidential Yacht Races

The International Presidential Yacht Races – which is organized under the auspices of the Presidency by the Istanbul Offshore Yacht Race Club in cooperation with the Istanbul Governorate and the Türkiye Sailing Federation, with the contributions of Ministry of Culture and Tourism – took place in four different stages for the first time this year.

The first stage of the 6^th International Presidential Yacht Races began in Istanbul on May 14, 2025, and finished in Samsun on May 19, 2025.

The second stage of the races started on 22 August 2025 from Marmaris in the direction of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). 150 sailors competed for 100 hours along a route spanning 340 nautical miles in the competition, which was held in commemoration of the 51^st anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation as a symbol of the commitment felt for the TRNC’s independence and freedom as well as for the Blue Homeland. The winning teams received their cups in a ceremony held in Karpaz on July 25, 2025.

The third stage of the races kicked off in Istanbul on August 22, 2025. 230 sailors competed for 25 hours towards Çanakkale along a route covering 140 nautical miles.

The final stage started, as per the tradition, in front of Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul on October 29, 2025, and the races were completed on November 2, 2025.

Successfully completing all stages of the 6^th International Yacht Races, Angels of CMC Holding, led by Oğuz Ayan, claimed the overall title. In Trophy, Samsun Yelken, with Yusuf Tunç at its helm, finished second, and Beymen Club Sailing Team, under Ahmet Köroğlu, came in third place.

In the ORC Club category, Unilever Sailing Team, captained by Engin Özden, took top honors ahead of Code-Zero, led by Burak Cora, and Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi, led by Ali Kemal Tüfekçi.

In the Cruising class, DHO Akova, skippered by Muhammed Ali Şahin, won first place, followed by Team Shine Away under Tunay Can and Biance TR under Hasret Can Ürek.

11th Turkish Medical World Congress and TÜSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive Awards Ceremony

The 11^th Turkish Medical World Congress was held by the Ministry of Health and the Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB) under the auspices of the Presidency on November 24-26, 2025 in Ankara.

A total of 3,000 invitees, among whom were 40 Turkish scientists, including Nobel Laureate Prof. Aziz Sancar, the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Europe Dr. Hans Kluge, Health Ministers of nearly 20 countries, high-level executives, policy-makers, sectoral representatives, academics and state executives, attended the 11^th Turkish Medical World Congress that was held under the theme of “Innovative Health”.

Numerous issues, which determine the future of health, were addressed at the Congress. The participants exchanged their views on mRNA technologies, vaccine production, gene and cell therapy, use of artificial intelligence in health and digital health applications that include intelligent decision support systems and big data management. Also, such topics as CAR T-cell therapy, personalized medicine, strategies for combatting obesity and diabetes, the integration of traditional and complementary medicine with evidence-based medicine, initiative for the indigenization of medical devices and medication as well as licensing and clinical research vision were discussed.

On the occasion of the Congress, 2025 TÜSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Incentive Awards Ceremony were held at Beştepe Nation’s Convention and Culture Center on November 26, 2025 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Also, a special award in the memory of the late Professor Ordinarius M. Gazi Yaşargil, 2025 TÜSEB Health Technologies Prestige Award and TÜSEB Innovative Health Team Award were granted for the first time this year.

3rd Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress

The 3^rd Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress and International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Workshop were held by the Ministry of Health under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye at Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Convention Center on October 3-5, 2025. During the Congress held under the theme of “Integrative Medicine in the Century of a Healthy Türkiye”, 178 different presentations were made at 27 separate sessions, where integrative medicine approach in clinical practices was discussed. Japan’s Ambassador to Türkiye Takahiko Katsumata, Deputy Minister of Health of Azerbaijan Ilgar Gasimov, Deputy Minister of Health of Bulgaria Associate Professor Angel Kunchev, Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Sarjveladze and Minister of Health of Syria Dr. Musaab Nazzal Alali delivered greeting speeches at the event, which was held with participants from 31 different countries, including Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus via videoconference. During the opening event, 10 executives of the hospitals with the highest performance in the area of traditional and complementary medicine and physicians, who use traditional and complementary medicine practices, were presented with plaques and certificates of appreciation.

In addition to the scientific presentations, acupuncture, cupping therapy and medicinal leech therapy workshops were held at the Congress.

The International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Workshop was also held for the first time in Türkiye under the theme of “The Past, Today and Future of Traditional and Complementary Medicine” simultaneously with the Congress. Dr. Tasnim Atatrah, WHO Representative and Head of Mission in Türkiye attended the Workshop as well. Dr. Kim Sungchol, the head of WHO Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine Unit, who participated in the Workshop via videoconference, talked about the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025-2034.

954th Anniversary of the Victory of Manzikert

The commemorative events of the Victory of Manzikert, organized by the Archers Foundation under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye since 2017 to emphasize the historical importance of the Manzikert Victory, was held this year in Ahlat and Malazgirt simultaneously with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on August 22-26 to mark the victory’s 954th anniversary.

Within the scope of the organization, besides traditional activities such as archery, mounted archery, wrestling and jereed (javelin throw) held on the camping base, the Turkish Stars, the Turkish Air Force’s aerobatic demonstration team, conducted a flyover in Ahlat for the first time.

3rd International Yeditepe Biennial

The 3^rd International Yeditepe Biennial was organized by the Classical Turkish Arts Foundation and Fatih Municipality under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye between April 18 and June 18, 2025.

The Biennial aimed to carry the esthetic heritage of the Turkish and Islamic arts from the present to the future, share Türkiye’s cultural and artistic values with the world, and showcase various artistic fields such as calligraphy, illumination, miniature, marbling, quilling, engraving and tile painting through different approaches and methods of exhibition.

The Biennial, which was held with the theme of “Where There is Shadow, There is Light”, addressed classical arts with a contemporary perspective, and introduced the audience to shadow and light’s effect on arts.

The Biennial, which was held in such historical venues as Yedikule Fortress, Sirkeci Train Station Warehouses and Nuruosmaniye Mosque Cellar, hosted the 214 pieces of 263 artists from over 30 countries.

13th International Conquest Cup

507 athletes from 26 countries in the branch of traditional archery and 203 athletes from 25 countries in the branch of modern archery participated in the 13th International Conquest Cup, which was organized by the Archers Foundation under the auspices of the Presidency on May 26-29, 2025.

International Presidential Yacht Races

The Republic Cup stage of the 5^th International Presidential Yacht Races, organized by Istanbul Offshore Yacht Racing Club under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye through the coordination of the Türkiye Sailing Federation and Istanbul Governor’s Office and with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was held in Istanbul on October 26-29, 2024.

86 teams with over 800 athletes from 14 countries competed in the challenging course of the Istanbul Bosporus for the Republic Cup at the Istanbul stage of the 5^th International Presidential Yacht Races, the only yacht race in the world that connects two continents. AKPA Chemicals, which successfully raced at the Bodrum and Istanbul stages of the organization, won the Republic Cup.

Hedef Yelken team, which raced for the Turkish Space Industries (TAI) in the 5^th International Presidential Yacht Races, came first in the general classification and its own class. Along with 1^st-place cup, TAI was also presented with the DHL Special Award by DHL Express Türkiye.

The 10th World Halal Summit & Halal EXPO 2024

The 10^th World Halal Summit and Halal Expo 2024 was organized by Discover Events Fair and Organization under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye at the Istanbul EXPO Center on November 27-30, 2024.

The World Halal Summit brought together experts and policymakers to discuss the critical challenges and opportunities of the halal economy. Over 10 sessions, 43 speakers shared their views on halal standardization, trade, food safety, conservative fashion and ethical business practices. About 500 people from 50 countries and nearly 50 thousand visitors from 110 countries participated in Halal Expo.

The 10^th World Halal Summit and Halal Expo 2024 reached a wide audience via 995 National TV, radio and internet channels, 205 foreign TV and internet channels, 822 local TV, press and internet channels.

Entrepreneurs Gathering of Türkiye

The Entrepreneurs Gathering of Türkiye and the 11^th GIV Entrepreneurship Awards were organized by the Entrepreneur Businessmen Foundation (GIV) under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye on December 17-18, 2024 at Istanbul University’s Prof. Dr. Cemil Bilsel Conference Hall.

34 moderators and speakers took the floor in 7 panels organized within the scope of the Entrepreneurs Gathering of Türkiye and the 11^th GIV Entrepreneurship Awards, which hosted over 5000 visitors for 2 days.

2024 Year of Pensioners “Doyens of the Century of Türkiye”

The year 2024 had been declared as the “Year of Pensioners” by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in order to support the welfare and well-being of our retired citizens, who are the “Doyens of the Century of Türkiye”, to ensure that our pensioners could realize their potential and improve themselves by utilizing their knowledge and experience. Public institutions, non-governmental organizations, local administrations, universities and all other social partners were stakeholders in the activities carried out for the Doyens of the Century of Türkiye under the coordination of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

Steps were taken to expand the social rights of our retirees from health to transportation, from social opportunities to cultural activities. In this direction, https://emekliler.gov.tr was launched and posts were shared on this website, which also includes the retirement academy.

During the Year of Pensioners, activities were carried out under four main topics: “Economic Welfare of Pensioners”, which includes activities to improve the economic situation of our pensioners; “Social Welfare of Pensioners”, which aims to increase their social welfare level with the participation of all public institutions and organizations, non-governmental organizations, local administrations, universities and all stakeholders; “Transfer of Cultural Heritage Related to Working Life” and “Scientific Research and Activities”.

SAHA EXPO 2024 International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition

SAHA EXPO 2024 International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition, organized by SAHA EXPO Exhibition Services Inc and held by SAHA Istanbul Defence and Aerospace Cluster Association, took place in Istanbul on 22-26 October under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

SAHA EXPO International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition, the fourth edition of which was held this year, took place on an area of 90,000 square meters, including eight exhibition halls as well as foyers and outdoor areas. Hosting 1,478 participating firms and 25,944 industry professionals from defense, security, maritime, aviation and aerospace sectors, the exhibition attracted more than 150,000 visitors from 121 countries. The visitors, first and foremost industry professionals, had the opportunity to experience firsthand the latest innovations in defense, aviation and aerospace industries.

The agreements signed during SAHA EXPO 2024 International Defence and Aerospace Exhibition resulted in commercial partnerships worth 6.189 billion dollars, 4.332 billion dollars of which was recorded as direct exports.

World Motocross Championship - MXGP of Türkiye

The Turkish leg of the World Motocross Championship, which featured the world’s best motocross riders, took place on September 7-8, 2024 in Afyonkarahisar under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

The World Motocross Championship, a major sports tourism event, was followed by nearly 3.5 billion viewers in 180 countries.

In the competition where 17-year-old Dutch rider Lotte Van Drunen became Women’s World Motocross champion, Jorge Prado secured the first place in the MXGP class, Lucas Coenen in the MX2 class, and Mathis Valin in the European category in the races in Türkiye.

50 ambassadors from 70 countries participated in the Commemorative Events of the Victory of Manzikert, 1071 that lasted for 3 days. Within the scope of the Commemorative Events of the 953rd anniversary of the Victory of Manzikert, held simultaneously in Ahlat and Malazgirt with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan between August 23-26, 2024, many traditional activities such as archery, mounted archery, wrestling, jereed (javelin throw) and torchlight processions were organized to promote the Turkish culture.

12th International Conquest Cup

Organized in 2013 for the first time and held every successive year since then, the International Conquest Cup stands out in this discipline since it is the world’s only archery event where competitions in both traditional and modern archery categories are held.

The 12^th International Conquest Cup was held by the Archers Foundation under the auspices of the Presidency on May 26-29, 2024 with the participation of 500 hundred athletes from 32 countries to mark the conquest of Istanbul, contribute to the world peace with the unifying power of sports and reflect the element of tolerance in the Turkish culture.

Snowcross World Championship (SNX TÜRKİYE)

The Snowcross World Championship-Türkiye (SNX Türkiye), where the world's leading extreme athletes compete, was held in Kayseri-Erciyes Ski Center under the auspices of the Presidency on March 8-10, 2024.

The Snowcross World Championship, in which 19 racers from 9 countries participated, was broadcast live on TRT Spor Yıldız, DSMART, DSMART GO and SPORTS TV. The organization was also broadcast on CBS Sports in the United States, Sports TV Network in Europe, and FOX Sports channels in Asia and South America.

The winner of the Snowcross World Championship, organized for the first time in Türkiye, was Magnus Reiten from Norway. Jesse Kirchmeyer from the United States of America came second place, while Elias Bacher from Austria came third. In addition to the ranking competitors, commemorative plaques were presented to the female competitors Ida Rosell, Samantha Gillieron and Kelly Jean Collier.

Centennial anniversary events of the foundation of the Republic of Türkiye were carried out under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

International Sakarya Bike Fest

Sakarya, which has hosted national and international cycling races every year since 2020, and holds the UCI Bike City label, has opened its doors to different teams and athletes of the world in this field with its bike festival.

The International Sakarya Bike Fest, organized by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, was held between May 15-26, 2024 with the participation of 150 athletes from more than 30 countries. The festival was broadcast live in more than 120 countries around the world.

Willem Jakobus Smit, the South African cyclist of China Glory - Mentech, finished first in the Tour of Sakarya race. Emeline Detilleux from Belgium finished first in the women's category of the Sakarya MTB CUP race, while Belgian Pierre De Froidmont came first in the men's category.

Gaia Tormena from Italy won the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup in the women's category, while Edvin Lindh from Sweden won in the men's category.

World Motocross Championship - MXGP of Türkiye

The Turkish leg of the World Motocross Championship (MXGP), featuring the world's best motocross riders, took place on September 2-3, 2023, in Afyonkarahisar under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

While 400 thousand people visited World Motocross Championship - MXGP of Türkiye, one of the major organizations of sports tourism, the championship, which is popular worldwide, reached nearly 3.5 billion viewers in 180 countries.

124 racers from 23 countries participated in the race held in Afyonkarahisar Motor Sports Center, whose track and paddock area were both awarded as the best in the world. At the end of the race of factory teams such as Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Beta, Suzuki, TM and Fantic, the European and World Women's champion was announced in our country. At the end of the races, Slovenian Tim Gajser ranked first in MXGP, Belgian Liam Everts in MX2 class, New Zealander Courtney Duncan in women and Italian Andrea Bonacorsi in European Championship.

Many brands took part in the Türkiye MotoFest, organized together with MXGP of Türkiye, with various activities.

10th World Turkish Business Council Congress

The 10th Congress of the World Turkish Business Council (DTİK), operating under the roof of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), was held at Haliç Congress Center in Istanbul on September 15-16, 2023 under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

DTİK carries out its activities with a view to increasing Türkiye’s power through diaspora diplomacy. International Silk Road Project for Child and Youth Studies Center

The International Silk Road Project for Child and Youth Studies Center, conducted by the Elazığ Governorship’s Private Administration Department under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, aims at strengthening the adherence to the values of our country of children and youngsters living in Türkiye’s seven regions in line with the East-West cohesion policy and of foreign guests currently residing in Türkiye for various reasons, and at reinforcing their unity and solidarity with their peers in other geographies.

As part of the project, learning by experience and thematic history centers will be set up based on the narrative and descriptive teaching of history as well as the non-formal and applied training approach with a view to developing programs which incorporate scientific centers’ cooperation with thematic centers that cover social sciences and humanities.

15th IDEF International Defence Industry Fair

The IDEF International Defence Industry Fair, which is held by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TSKGV) with the contribution of the Directorate of Defense Industry of the Presidency of Türkiye, and which is hosted by the Ministry of National Defense, aims to bring together participating companies and potential buyers on the same platform, create international cooperation opportunities, and contribute to the promotion of Türkiye’s defense, security, aviation and space industries.

The 16th IDEF International Defence Industry Fair, held on the centenary of the Republic of Türkiye, was aimed to be an organization, to which leading defense industry firms contributed, where Türkiye’s most important defense industry companies promoted their products, in which leading domestic and foreign members of the sector participated, at which panels and seminars were held, and where visitors were able to more closely follow the technological developments in the area of defense industry.

IDEF 2023 hosted 1,461 companies from 54 countries, including 689 domestic and 772 foreign companies, operating in the fields of defense, security, maritime, aviation and space industries.

IDEF 2023 was visited by 94,198 people from 107 countries, and 187 delegations and 738 delegation members from 78 countries and three international organizations participated in the fair, with official delegation invitations extended by the senior officials of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Interior and the Presidency of Defense Industries to the Ministers of Defense and the senior civilian and military authorities responsible for procurement of friendly and allied countries.

The procurement authorities of the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Interior and the Presidency of Defense Industries opened 31 negotiation offices, held 5,397 bilateral meetings with participating companies and delegations, and held 141 signing ceremonies.

The SAHA EXPO Defence and Aerospace Exhibition

The SAHA EXPO Defence and Aerospace Exhibition was held at Istanbul Exhibition Centre in Yesilkoy, Istanbul, between 25th-28th of October, 2022, under the management of SAHA Istanbul Defence and Aerospace Cluster Association, by SAHA EXPO Exhibition Services Inc.

The physical section of the SAHA EXPO 2022 Exhibition, the only hybrid 3D defence industry exhibition in the world, took place in 6 exhibition halls of Istanbul Expo Centre, on an area of 60.000 m2. The physical exhibition is followed by the Virtual SAHA EXPORT, which has been planned in a digital format of 3D product promotion for a period of three months to serve the businesses that could not participate in the physical exhibition or could not wrap up their business development processes.

A wide range of participants such as national and international delegations, defence ministers, senior procurement staff, contractors/OEM, system integrators, SME’s, industry professionals, subcontractors, major manufacturers, service providers, suppliers, universities and media attended the exhibition.

International Clarinet Festival

The International Clarinet Festival, which aimed to present the intercultural interaction and communication across the world with both a visual and an audial richness, was held with the participation of artists and art-lovers from home and abroad.

The festival, which brought together in one breath the tunes of friendship, peace and unity, was first held with the theme of “Istanbul breathes!” in 2012 in Istanbul’s streets, squares, parks, beaches and concert halls.

The festival consisted of many activities, including young breaths clarinet competition, the orchestra comprised of women artists, the “Respect the Master” concerts during which leading master musicians were remembered with their works, workshops, interviews and the “Breath Therapy”.

The International Clarinet Festival was held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye on November 12-18, 2019 in Istanbul and Ankara.

Türkiye’s 4th International Arabic Books and Culture Days

Türkiye’s 4th International Arabic Books and Culture Days event was held by the Istanbul Branch of the Writers Union of Türkiye under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye with the aims of rediscovering our 1400 years of scientific heritage; of gathering us together around Arabic, which is our common language with the Islamic world, in the form of a culture festival; and of promoting the fact that Türkiye is home to libraries that harbor the largest collections of manuscripts in the Islamic world. Also among the objectives of Türkiye’s International Arabic Books and Culture Days event, which has become traditional, is to form a multilateral bridge of culture between Türkiye and the Islamic world; to introduce Arabic reference books, which are our shared heritage, to their target audience; and to bring together in Türkiye science people from all across the Islamic world.

Panels, seminars, interviews and meetings of publishers under the theme of “Libraries as Our Memory of Civilizations,” which was the main theme of this year’s Arabic Books and Culture Days event, as well as art exhibitions entitled “July 15” and “Libraries from the Past to the Present Day” were held as part of Türkiye’s 4th International Arabic Books and Culture Days event.

A Project for World Peace

The “A Project for World Peace” event was held in Istanbul on February 14-15, 2019 in memory of world-renowned late Turkish musician Barış Manço (Barış is a Turkish proper noun that translates into English as peace), who acted as a bridge between the traditional and the future by getting united with native and national values with a view to building the future without disregarding his roots and thus immensely contributed to the promotion of our cultural richness.

Barış Manço, one of Türkiye’s most precious treasures, highlighted in his practice of art such values as peace, love and tolerance and steered people towards the good, the right and the beautiful along with his humanistic stance. The “A Project for World Peace” is aimed at raising awareness about the values Barış Manço represents and transferring them to future generations.

As part of the project, Barış Manço’s practice of art was analyzed from an academic perspective at the “International Symposium on Modern Ozan Barış Manço,” (The term Ozan in Turkish folk literature is roughly akin to a mystic bard or balladeer) at Istanbul University and a portrayal of Barış Manço was put forth through the eyes of his relatives and artist friends at a panel discussion entitled “Longing for Barış after 20 Years” at CRR Concert Hall in Istanbul.

2nd Council on Ageing

The 2^nd Council on Ageing, which was held by the Ministry of Family and Social Services under the auspices of the Presidency, aimed to address ageing through multidimensional social policies and to develop inclusive, sustainable and data-based policies with the participation of all stakeholders at central and local level.

The organization was held on April 21-22, 2026, in Ankara with the participation of central and local administrations, academics, civil society and all other stakeholders. Within the organization, committee works were carried out to address the issue of ageing through the findings obtained at provincial elderly workshops, ageing field researches and ageing literature search under the following seven thematic topics:

Population, Family and Ageing,
Long-Term Care Services, Care Assurance System and its Financing,
Active and Healthy Ageing,
Elderly Entrepreneurship and Employment, Silver Economy, Digitalization,
Elderly-Friendly Cities and Spatial Arrangements,
Climate Change, Disaster, Crisis, Migration and Elderly in Emergencies,
Mainstreaming of Ageing and Elderly Rights.

A total of 148 people, including academics and representatives of such stakeholders as nongovernmental organizations and state institutions, participated in the committee works.

Turkish Red Crescent’s 150th Foundation Anniversary Commemorative Events

Holding various events throughout the year, the Turkish Red Crescent, with this project, aimed to raise public awareness for the institution; increase the sources of income and the number of volunteers, who were trained in the areas of disaster, humanitarian aid and public health, as well as of donors; and strengthen the senses of trust and ownership towards the institution. In addition to these, it was aimed with next generation approaches that the Turkish Red Crescent elevated its leadership status among the Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies.

It was also aimed with the Turkish Red Crescent’s 150th Foundation Anniversary Commemorative Events, held under the auspices of the Presidency, that senses like awareness, sustainability, leadership, trust, belonging and ownership be addressed; communication and event projects be implemented; and the project reach children, youngsters, academics, businesspeople, volunteers, donors, schools, universities and corporations both at home and across the world.

EURASIA AIRSHOW

Türkiye has put its signature under important achievements in the recent years. It is a necessity for our country to be represented on every platform in the field of aviation in line with its goals to reach the level of developed nations in aviation and space industry.

Airshows are of great importance to nations that aim to hold a bigger place in aviation and space industry. The Eurasia Airshow held on April 25-28, 2018, in Antalya under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye served as an opportunity for our national aviation and space industry to present itself at a global scale and to incorporate new business and solution partners.

343 companies from 67 countries participated in the show, and over 157 thousand visitors, 27 thousand of whom were professionals, visited the show, which was held on a 410,000-square-meter area at Antalya Airport. 253 accredited journalists from 13 countries covered Türkiye’s first airshow, during which 81 aircraft exhibitions and over 100 fly-pasts were held.

Sages from Khoja Ahmed Yasawi to Present 4th International Events

The project ‘Sages from Ahmed Yasawi to Present - 4th International Events’, run by the Turkmen Alawi Bektashi Foundation, aims to ensure and consolidate tolerance, friendship, fraternity and cooperation among Muslim members of the Anatolian and Balkan nations within the framework of Islamic faith and culture.

A large number of people including Deputy Prime Minister Hakan Çavuşoğlu, Alawi Bektashi opinion leaders and dervishes attended the ‘Sages from Khoja Ahmed Yasawi to Present - 4th International Events’ on April 1, 2018, which featured panel discussions, culture gatherings, art exhibitions and visits to historical monuments.

1st International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress and Fair

The “1st International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress and Fair”, hosted by the Ministry of Health under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, is aimed at integrating traditional and complementary medicine into the modern healthcare system. It is also aimed at introducing at international platforms the healthcare and cultural background and extensive potential of medicinal herbs inherited by our civilization to the present day and preparing a common infrastructure for academic/scientific studies and cooperation opportunities which may be provided in the fields of international trade, law and education.

The “1st International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress and Fair”, whose opening day was honored with the participation of First Lady Emine Erdoğan, was held on 19 - 22 April 2018 at Istanbul Congress Center with the motto of “In the Cradle of Civilizations; Medicine in Anatolia”.

Illustrated Flora of Türkiye Project

The “Illustrated Flora of Türkiye Project”, which has been put into practice under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye in order to record the plant diversity of Türkiye with the actual data, was launched in 2009 under the roof of the Flora Research Association. The work, which is planned to be consisted of 30 volumes, has been carried out with the contribution of nearly two hundred artists and scientists from various universities across Türkiye.

Although the works which were written in other languages about the flora of Türkiye provide a very significant fund of information on our country’s flora, the fact that they are not adequately efficient in conveying this information to the public, and the ongoing plant explorations have created a need for writing a new flora.

Due to the key role of the plants’ names in conveying information, a guideline for the “Turkish Names for Plants”, which will ensure and control the scientific trueness of the Turkish names for the plants, has been formed within the Flora Research Association and a substructure, which will enable the system to work, has been set up.

The first volume of the Illustrated Flora of Türkiye (IFT) was prepared by ANG (Ali Nihat Gökyiğit) Foundation and the Flora Research Association and was published by İşbank Culture Publishing in 2014 and the second volume of the IFT was published by ANG Foundation on 17 March, 2018. The scientific and the artistic preparations of the volumes between 3 and 17 have been carried out by the joint works of the Flora Research Association and ANG Foundation in Nezahat Gökyiğit Botanic Garden.

2nd International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress and Fair

It is of importance that different parts of society reach traditional and complementary medicine practices; that these practices be integrated into healthcare system, grounding in proofs; and that practitioners as well as practices be standardized. The World Health Organization (WHO), under its Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014–2023, urges countries to make regulations in this field and consolidate their modern healthcare systems with traditional and complementary medicine practices.

The 2nd International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress and Fair, which was held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, aimed to discuss with international participants traditional and complementary medicine practices in chronic illnesses, and to share knowledge and experience.

The 2nd International Traditional and Complementary Medicine Congress and Fair was held in Istanbul on April 24-27, 2019.

Phoenix: The Musical

Phoenix: The Musical by the Music Department of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation aims to exhibit the rich Turkish culture and history while also embracing all with the unifying dynamism of our culture.

The musical was first performed on May 6, 2015 at an official dinner hosted at the Presidential Complex in honor of the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

On May 6, 2016, the musical was performed at Haliç Congress Center by the TRT Ankara Radio Polyphonic Choir and the TRT Istanbul Light Music and Jazz Orchestra.

Caravan Project

The documentary “Caravan” puts to use the architectural monuments dating back to the Anatolian Seljuk era to recount the transformation the caravans, which set out from China primarily for trade, underwent on the Anatolian lands. The documentary tells the story of the 1,920 km-long Northeastern Anatolia Caravan Road (Silk Road) across the Anatolian geography. The caravan, which travelled along the route of the Silk Road in the 13^th century, stopped by Seljuk cities and passed through the lands of the first-era Turkish-Muslim Beyliks, carrying to the present day the social fabric of the 13^thcentury’s Anatolia. The sufistic view, which in time started to take hold amongst caravan members as a result of their interaction on the Turkish lands, is particularly given in the subtext.

The documentary “Caravan” was shot in the provinces of Iğdır, Erzurum, Erzincan, Tokat, Sivas, Kayseri, Nevşehir, Aksaray, Konya, Isparta, Burdur and Antalya and interspersed with interviews conducted in Germany and the Netherlands. Comprised of 12 episodes in total, the documentary “Caravan: Along the Road of an Ancient Past” was completed in 2016-2017 and broadcast on TRT Belgesel [TRT Documentary] and TRT 4K in 2018. Also as part of the project, two separate books titled “Yolların Tanıkları Anadolu Selçuklu Hanları” [Anatolian Seljuk Caravansaries: Witnesses of the Roads] and “Kervan” [Caravan] were published.

International Hilya al-Sharif Contest and Symposium

The Symposium on Calligraphy and Hilya al-Sharif, a first in our history of arts, was held on June 3-4, 2017.

Calligraphers from Türkiye, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, the United Kingdom and the United States sent their works and participated in the contest, held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

Hundreds of calligraphers took part in the International Hilya al-Sharif Contest, organized by Istanbul Arts and Civilization Foundation.

The Bests of the Green Crescent - the Phoenix Awards

The Phoenix Awards are given by the Turkish Green Crescent to individuals and organizations that lead the fight against addiction with their actions, and set an example with their lifestyles.

The Phoenix Awards aim to give prominence to individuals who set an example with their lifestyles, have a positive influence over the youth and fight against addictions in all spheres of life, and to institutions and organizations that support this struggle.

Within this framework, the individuals, who set an example with their lifestyles, and the institutions and organizations, which supported the fight against addiction with their efforts, were granted the Bests of the Green Crescent – the Phoenix Awards at a ceremony held during the Green Crescent Week in 2016.

All-Star Football Game

In the face of the terrorist attacks we have suffered recently, both local and foreign footballers playing for clubs in Spor Toto Super League took part in an “All-Star” football game in show of unity and solidarity. The game, the kick-off of which was taken by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was played as a tribute to martyrs, and ended in a 4-3 victory for the Native Stars Team against the Foreign Stars Team.

All revenues of the game, which was played at BJK Vodafone Arena on December 22, 2016, will go to the families of our citizens who lost their lives or were wounded in terrorist attacks via the Ministry of Family and Social Policies. The organization was held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and the coordination of the Foundation of Turkish Football Federation and Union of Clubs.

“High School Students Write about the Victory”

A competition of essay, story and poem writing was organized among students of both private and public high schools in Türkiye jointly by the Ministry of National Education, the Association of the Turkish Language and Literature, and the Turkish Language Institute, under the auspices of the Presidency, on the topic of “History of Coups in Türkiye and the July 15 People’s Victory” with an aim to draw attention to the coups that have been staged in Türkiye and to highlight how the trauma caused by the July 15, 2016 coup attempt affected the youth.

The main objective of the competition was to underscore, as the centennial of our Republic is nearing, that any movement which doesn’t take its source from the nation and which is against the people and the state is not legitimate, as well as to raise awareness of the youth about the illegitimacy of any attempt that targets the national will, state, democracy and freedoms.

According to the figures of the Ministry of National Education’s Directorate General for Secondary Education, 6 thousand students participated in the competition across Türkiye which was held under the title of “High School Students Write about the Victory”.

EXPO 2016 Antalya

In the 160-year history of EXPO, Türkiye hosted EXPO for the first time. EXPO 2016 Antalya was held in a 1100-decare exhibition site in the Aksu district of Antalya between April 23 and October 30, 2016.

Türkiye enjoyed an opportunity to promote its unique historical and cultural heritage, its rich biodiversity as well as its agricultural and economic potential during EXPO 2016 Antalya, held on the theme of “Flower and Child” and with the motto of “A Green World for Next Generations”.

International City and Civil Society Organizations Summit

The convention was aimed at encouraging NGOs working on local, national, and international projects focused on urban life to establish relations with other civil society organizations operating in similar fields. It also supported the development of business associations and joint projects and encourage associated fundraising efforts, as well as enable the sharing of best practices. The summit provided an international platform that allowed the mutual transfer of knowledge and experience.

In today’s conditions, international cooperation is essential to resolving local problems through a global perspective. Another goal of the International City and Civil Society Organizations Summit was to promote best practices applied on a local scale.

The summit, held by Esenler Municipality whose project partners are the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry for EU Affairs, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Yıldız Technical University, Istanbul Medeniyet University, Marmara University, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University and the Kent Merkezi Derneği (City Center Association), took place on Oct. 20-22, 2017 at Yıldız Technical University’s Davutpaşa Campus.

157 NGO and university representatives from 60 nations made presentations on 17 topics during the summit, which was followed by over 200 NGOs. What is more, the area spanning some 2,400 sq. m. allocated for the summit hosted booths of the NGOs that participated in the summit. The participants had face-to-face meetings at this area, thus enabling the implementation of socially-beneficial projects.

“Golden Pages” Exhibition

“Golden Pages” was the first exhibition of pages in Kufic calligraphy in Türkiye. The exhibition aimed to raise awareness in the society and art world, and demonstrate the reflections of Islam in arts and aesthetics throughout history, as opposed to a perception of Islam, which was lately tried to be associated with violence.

The exhibition was on display between March 5 and May 10, 2016 at the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum is Istanbul.

100th Anniversary of Kut al-Amara Victory

At the battle of Kut al-Amara, the Ottoman Army under the command of Halil Pasha won a historic victory over British troops in Kut located, in today's Iraq.

On the occasion of the 100^th Anniversary of Kut al-Amara Victory, a commemoration ceremony was held on April 29, 2016 at Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Short Film Contest on Mercy and Justice

International Short Film Contest on “Mercy and Justice”, organized by Çekmeköy Municipality, aimed to encourage the young generation to think about the notions of mercy and justice, commanded by our Prophet Muhammad for the salvation of the humanity and to help make films that would serve all mankind.

The award ceremony was held at Zorlu Performing Arts Center in Istanbul on May 8, 2016.

Hilye-i Şerif and Prayer Beads Museum

Hilye-i Şerif and Prayer Beads Museum, the first thematic and private museum in Türkiye on Islamic arts, was inaugurated in Siyavus Pasha Madrasah within Suleymaniye Mosque complex on January 2, 2016.

One of the largest collections of calligraphy and prayer beads are displayed at the museum, established by Istanbul Foundation for Arts and Civilization.

World Tourism Forum

The World Tourism Forum was held between the dates of February 4-6, 2016 at Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center with the participation of CEOs of leading tourism companies, professionals and heads of countries’ publicity offices.

Nearly 7 thousand tour operators, agents and hotel representatives took part in the 2^nd World Tourism Forum. “Africa” was among the main topics, discussed at the Forum, which also included destination marketing, tourism investments, online tourism, effects of politics on tourism, health tourism, shopping tourism, luxury concepts, sustainable tourism, international sports organizations, tourism and media, tourism and innovation, technology and smart investments.

World Tourism Awards, also known as World Tourism Oscars, were presented in 32 categories at the forum.

The Seljuk Area Culture Project

The Seljuk Area Cultural Development and Action Plan that is to help develop the socio-cultural and physical features of the area and to protect the historical and cultural legacies of the Seljuks has been completed under the aegis of the Presidency.

The project that encompasses Ahlat, Adilcevaz, Tatvan, Malazgirt and Erciş will be carried out under the Presidency’s aegis by an inter-ministerial committee via the Secretariat of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The project aims to improve the cultural and touristic activities in the region including the provinces of Van and Bitlis.

International Co-operative Alliance Global Conference and General Assembly

The 44th biennial Global Conference and General Assembly of the International Co-operative Alliance was held in Antalya under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

Nearly 1500 delegates, representing almost 1billion co-operative partners, took part in the conference held in Türkiye for the first time between the dates of November 10 and 13, 2015.

2020 Mountain Bike Marathon World Championship

The event, which is considered one of the most prestigious organizations in the world and was on UCI calendar, was held October 24-25, 2020 by Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality.

The 2020 Mountain Bike Marathon World Championship was broadcast live on numerous local and foreign television channels. Ramona Forchini won the women’s category and Hector Leonardo Paez Leon won the men’s category.

IDEF International Defence Industry Fair

The 13^th IDEF International Defence Industry Fair was held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye between May 9-12, 2017 at TUYAP Fair and Convention Center in Istanbul.

133 delegations, 637 representatives from 67 countries and 2 international organizations attended the fair. 47 signing ceremonies and 5 meetings were held during the event. Nearly 80 thousand people, including professionals from the sector, veterans, relatives of veterans and martyrs and university students, visited the fair. 2,240 planned business meetings were held by the Ministry of National Defense, the Turkish Armed Forces and the Directorate-General for Security in particular and many agreements were signed.

Turkish defence industry’s latest productions and prototypes of weapons systems were exhibited at the fair.

Çekmeköy International Short Film Contest

This year’s theme of the international short film contest, organized for the second time by Çekmeköy Municipality, had been designated as “Treason and Resistance-July 15,” with reference to the patriotic stance our nation displayed against the invasive and terrorist coup attempt on July 15, 2016.

Çekmeköy International Short Film Contest was aimed at memorializing thousands of individual accounts of resistance, and spirit thereof, displayed against this treason on the night of July 15, thereby making them permanent. The international format of the contest helped interpret the July 15 treason from different cinema artists’ viewpoints, as well. Another aim of the contest was to narrate the notion of “treason and resistance” through various social, cultural, artistic and natural incidents.

Its gala and award ceremony took place on July 13, 2017, at Haliç Congress Center in Istanbul.

Turkish Language Year 2017

Turkish Language Year 2017, jointly organized by Prime Ministry’s Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History and the Turkish Language Association under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, was aimed at drawing the public’s attention to the setbacks caused by the alterations the Turkish language, which is one of the leading languages of the world with an extensive history dating back thousands of years, had undergone over the last century.

The goal of the scientific and cultural events held throughout Turkish Language Year 2017 by various state institutions as well as by private sector representatives, NGOs and media organs was to ensure proper use of Turkish language, which was an indispensable guarantee of our national unity and solidarity, and thus to be able to pass it on to following generations accurately.

International Symposium on Al-Quds in Ottoman Era

International Symposium on Al-Quds in Ottoman Era was held on April 29-30, 2017, at Istanbul Cevahir Convention Center as part of 2017 Al-Quds Year Events, which were organized under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

The influence of Al-Quds, which remained under Ottoman sovereignty for 400 years, on our culture and faith was discussed from a historical perspective on an academic level during the symposium, which was jointly organized by Marmara University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The symposium highlighted the importance of Al-Quds, which all the divine religions designate as sacred.

The Al-Quds events held throughout 2017 were aimed at contributing to the world peace. That was because peace in Al-Quds was a must for peace in the world. The goal of the events was to prove that peace was possible in Al-Quds, which had been an island of peace under Ottoman rule for 400 years, and to enable a larger number of Muslims to visit Al-Aqsa Mosque.

2nd International Archive Congress On Ottoman Lands

The Ottoman Empire managed to put forth an opulent archival heritage in a way to cover all the lands it had ruled over an extensive period of time that was tantamount to more than six hundred years, and helped this heritage kept intact to make it to the modern times. The majority of this heritage is displayed in Türkiye's archives while the remaining part is featured in the archives of the countries detached from the Ottoman lands after gaining independence.

Gathering the countries, which gained independence from the Ottoman Empire, on a joint ground of culture, history and civilization can only be achieved by unearthing the archival treasures inherited from the Ottomans and combining the pieces carved out by the same cultural and historical grounds.

Such convergence and integration along with the cooperation of organizations and universities with capability to take joint actions enabled to thoroughly rewrite and reassess the global history.

The Congress also assumed a significant mission to cooperate with the attending states and organizations in joint training, technological development and archival practices, and launch a modern structure that meets the international standards for our authorities.

Move to Overcome!

The aims of the campaign ‘Move to Overcome’ are to make 100 thousand people with disabilities and 100 thousand people without disabilities come together and do sports, encourage pre-school children with disabilities to engage in rehabilitative physical and sportive activities, double the segment of the society informed that people with disabilities can do sports, inform the society that people with disabilities can adapt to the society more easily via sports, and eliminate the ‘disabilities’ in every sense. With the campaign, our youth both with and without disabilities will have a stronger social adaptation, their life standards will rise and the individuals with disabilities will be enabled to lead an active life without drifting away from the society.

As part of the campaign, the children and the youth with disabilities will be canalized to various sportive branches in line with their competencies and will be taught the basic technics and talents of the relevant branch.

‘Encouraging a Culture of Healthy Life’ Project

The project ‘Encouraging a Culture of Healthy Life’ has been implemented with the aim of earning the children and the youth the habit of an active life and thus making them lead a healthy life as well as easing the possible burden on our future health system with the help of increased physical activity among the society.

As part of the project, the improvement of environmental conditions and the construction of bicycle roads were urged so as to popularize the use of bicycle as one of the most effective methods to increase the level of physical activity.

The project is conducted by the Ministry of Health and the Public Health Institute of Türkiye.

22nd World Petroleum Congress

World Petroleum Congress aims to monitor first-hand the developments in the industry and cover all aspects of the industry, including exploration, production, development, transportation, refining, marketing, pricing, environment, social responsibility, sustainability, human resources, attracting the youth to the industry, geopolitics, education and training.

Türkiye hosted the congress, conducted by the World Petroleum Council Turkish National Committee, for the first time. The 22nd World Petroleum Congress was held in Istanbul on 9-13 July, 2017.

16th Century Genius Matrakçı Nasuh Project

Having lived during the period of Suleiman the Magnificent, Matrakçı Nasuh was a renowned historian, mathematician, painter, poet, philosopher, calligrapher and swordsman.

UNESCO has included Matrakçı Nasuh in the 2014-2015 “Celebration of Anniversaries” list on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his passing. The 16^th Century Genius Matrakçı Nasuh Project, conducted by Istanbul Intercultural Art Dialogues Association, is accepted and supported by UNESCO.

The project aims to remember, understand and portray Matrakçı Nasuh on national and international platforms through exhibitions (tiles, miniatures, calligraphies and paintings), documentaries, books, panels, music albums.

The project will be conducted in Sarajevo, Belgrade, Rome, Paris, Vienna, Istanbul, Ankara, Tokyo, and New York and end in the Hungarian city of Budapest, where Suleiman the Magnificent passed away.

XVII World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf

The XVII World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf was held in Istanbul, Türkiye for the first time.

Istanbul had been chosen to host the congress, leaving the other candidate cities, Berlin and New Mexico behind.

The World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf aims to encourage international exchange of information to meet the basic needs of deaf people and to elevate their quality of life. There are approximately 6 million deaf people in Türkiye and 360 million in the world. At every congress, thousands of experts, both deaf and hearing, from all over the world get a chance to share their experiences. Also, a main theme is determined for each congress in accordance with the circumstances of the time. This year, the congress was held around the theme, “Strengthening Human Diversity”.

The XVII World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf was held by the Turkish National Federation of the Deaf between July 28 – August1, 2015 at Istanbul Congress Center.

"A Legal Review of the 1915 Events in 100th Anniversary on the Basis of Historical Findings" Symposium

A Symposium titled “A Legal Review of the 1915 Events in 100th Anniversary on the Basis of Historical Findings" was held on May 8, 2015 by the Faculty of Law of Yıldırım Beyazıt University.

Historians presented their findings about the 1915 events and there was a legal review based on these findings to determine whether the 1915 events might actually be described as genocide. The purpose of this symposium was to provide an opportunity for foreign and local historians and legists to present their scientific views.

6th World Forum on Energy Regulation

The 6th World Forum on Energy Regulation, the first global event held in energy in Türkiye, was organized by Energy Market Regulatory Authority under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye. The Forum was held on the theme of “Bridging the World Energy Regulation” at Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Centre on May, 25-28 2015.

1st International Forum of Al-Quds Waqfs

1st International Forum of Al-Quds Waqfs held by the Prime Ministry Directorate General of Foundations and the International Institute of Islamic Waqfs in Malaysia in Istanbul on May 8 – 9, 2017 was carried out under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

The forum was organized under the title of increasing the power of waqfs to support the economic development of Al-Quds city, the capital of Palestine, and its environ upon recommendation of the Islamic Summit held by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on April 15, 2016 and this program has focused on supporting of the Palestinian people in their own lands with the help of countries, private sectors, individuals and institutions.

Member countries, waqfs, charities and humanitarian aid organizations as well as many specialized institutions performing studies in the field of the development of foundations and foundation’s properties in Islamic countries have participated in the forum.
