First Lady Emine Erdoğan attended the “Time and Arts at Topkapı Palace” event held on the occasion of the opening of Topkapı Palace Clock Museum in Istanbul.
Speaking at the event, First Lady Erdoğan noted that the museum is the product of an extremely meticulous work, and said: “Today we are setting out on a journey, where we will witness the richest taste and the life philosophy of our civilization that has turned time measurement into an elegant art. I have no doubt that this museum will be a strong center of attraction for history and art lovers from home and all across the world.”
First Lady Erdoğan said: “Each piece in this collection shows us a totally different culture of time. It tells us the perception of time at the Ottoman Empire, the role clocks play at diplomatic relations and the central position of aesthetics in life. Therefore, these clocks are not just objects of the past, but historical resources that show how life was organized at the time they were produced.”
