First Lady Emine Erdoğan attended the “5th Rize Gastronomy Days” held in coordination with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Rize Governor’s Office and the Rize Municipality.
In a social media post following her visit, First Lady Erdoğan said: “I have come together with the scent of soil, the warmth of women’s work and the abundance of nature at the 5th Rize Gastronomy Days held under the theme of the ‘Green Table of the Aromatic Culinary Culture’. I am pleased to meet with our women laborers and the treasured chefs of Rize representing the Turkish cuisine. I have visited the stands featuring ancestral seeds, aromatic plants, local foods, the gastronomy presentations of our youth and many other special products. Each stand is the reflection of the productivity, authenticity and deep-rooted culinary heritage of this beautiful city. Beyond a gastronomy event, this meaningful meeting is a step that carries Rize’s cultural memory to the future. Each and every one of the local tastes, which are the identity and richness of these lands, should be protected, sustained and carried to the future. I congratulate all who contributed to this organization that documents over 200 dishes from 12 districts by focusing on sustainability, healthy nutrition and local values.”
