President Erdoğan Meets with US President Obama

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in Washington DC for the Nuclear Security Summit, met with President Barack Obama of the US at the White House. At the meeting, the cooperation between Turkey and the US on the issues of refugees, regional security and the fight against terrorism was discussed.


The bilateral meeting took place after the dinner, hosted at the White House by President Obama of the US in honor of the heads of state and government participating in the Nuclear Security Summit.

The press release issued following the bilateral meeting stated that the cooperation between Turkey and the US on the issues of refugees, regional security and the fight against terrorism was discussed at the meeting.

EFFORTS TO DEFEAT DAESH

US President Obama extended condolences to President Erdoğan on behalf of the American people for those killed and injured in the latest terrorist attack in Diyarbakir, and reaffirmed the support of the United States for Turkey’s security and the mutual struggle against terrorism, the press release said.

The leaders also discussed how to advance the two countries’ shared efforts to degrade and destroy DAESH, the press release stated.
