Distinguished Members of the Turkish Exporters Assembly;
First of all, I would like to extend my sincere affection and love to all of you.
I am very pleased to be with you today, the leaders and the real heroes of Turkish export.
The representatives of the Exporter Associations from every region of Anatolia, the businessmen exporting from small and large Turkish towns to the world are here. Distinguished members of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, distinguished leaders and actors of export are all together with us today. I would like to extend my love to all of you again.
Up until now you were able to visit us. During these visits, Mr. Chairman was always inviting me and I always said that I would be visiting you at the proper time. I am very pleased that the visit is actualized today.
During your visits, Mr. Minister, Mr. Chairman and the former Minister were all giving details about your endeavors. The developments in exports you detailed were getting us excited and we are proud of these developments.
Today, in the auditorium, most of the faces are familiar to me. I am acquainted with most of you for various reasons. However the best opportunity to know each other was through the visits of the state abroad and you were accompanying our delegation. We have travelled to many places and I hope that we will be together on many more future visits.
In fact, export has been subjected to general negligence for years in Turkey. As you know, Turkey was an inward-looking country, which was the case both politically and economically. For years, we have discussed the import substitution policies and thought that these policies were successful. At the faculties, these topics were taught. For this reason, frankly speaking, we were not featuring the virtue of exportation. I remember the year 1973 when I was a student at the faculty, Turkey’s exports passed 1 billon dollars. There was much rejoicing in Turkey. Thank God, Turkey achieves great success today.
