Paying a two-day domestic visit to the province of Çanakkale along with First Lady Hayrünnisa Gül, President Gül, drawing attention to the historic value, importance and the recent industrialization of the city, enjoyed the great enthusiasm of the citizens during his visit, referring to the significance of the Çanakkale War: “This is a place where the course of history was changed and a number of heroic deeds were witnessed!” Exploring the Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial on the last day of his visit, the President also attended the banner hand-over ceremony at the 2nd Corps Regiment.
