1st Bogazici Regional Partnership Summit

Under the aegis of H.E. President Abdullah Gül, the International Cooperation Platform (ICP) is an organization supported by the Business World Foundation and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB). The ICP aims to establish long-lasting strategic collaboration by bringing together leading people in the economic, political, scientific and cultural fields, young leaders, well-known businessmen and entrepreneurs, thus contributing to Turkey’s strategic cooperation process.

During the 1st Bogazici Regional Partnership Summit organized in Istanbul from December 3-5, several sessions, sectoral panels and round table meetings were held which statesmen, young leaders and businessmen from 26 different countries attended.

1st International Seljuk Symposium

1st International Seljuk Symposium

Organized by Erciyes University’s Research and Implementation Center for the Turkic World aiming that the Seljuk era can be understood better, the 1st International Seljuk Symposium, under President Abdullah Gül’s aegis, was held in Kayseri from September 27-30, 2010.

Some 150 scientists from 28 countries from the today’s representatives of the then Seljuk geography attended the symposium during which the studies conducted on the Seljuk era were discussed in detail in the light of new knowledge.

The participants also exchanged their views on the scientific, historical and cultural civilization of the Seljuk era between the 11th and 14th century.

Turkey's Strategic Vision 2023

A multi-dimensional, strategic and special education and interactive project, Turkey’s Strategic Vision 2023 Project, which is aimed at high officials, NGOs and the public, is concerned with the targets and place where Turkey should stand in 2023 when the Turkish Republic will celebrate its 100th anniversary.

Its aim is to produce projects and suggestions on a wide basis as to what vision Turkey should manifest in the fields of foreign policy, security, politics, economy, technology and socio-cultural arenas in 2023 in order to be in line with the developments in the world.

Commemoration of Mimar Sinan

The Commemoration of Mimar Sinan Project was conducted under the aegis of President Gül, with the support of the Prime Ministry Secretariat of Promotion Fund and with the coordination of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

According to the project, a gala for the Mimar Sinan Ducumentary and the opening ceremony of an exhibition were held at the Çankaya Presidential Palace on June 09, 2009. During the ceremony, the guests enjoyed the 6-cd documentary film summary.

1st International Istanbul Opera Festival

1st International Istanbul Opera Festival

1st International Istanbul Opera Festival, under H.E. President Abdullah Gül’s aegis, is organized as a project of Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture special events with the support from the Minister of Culture and Tourism, the Istanbul Governorate and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

During the festival that will last four weeks, a total of 18 programs, including eight different opera productions, will be displayed at Yıldız Palace, Topkapı Palace, the Rumelian Fortress and the Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theater.

That the operas such as the Abduction from the Seraglio, Mehmet the Conqueror and Zaide, all of which are about Turkish culture and life, are included in the repertoire of the 1st International Istanbul Opera Festival will be put on with the original and historic settings adds to the significance of the festival.

As part of the festival, besides the productions of the State Operas and Ballets of Ankara, Izmir, Antalya and Samsun, the world’s most important and prestigious art institutions like Deutsche Opera Berlin and Bremen Opera will also perform the most amazing examples of the opera as guest companies.

16th Turkish World Children's Festival

The Turkish World Children’s Festival held for the 16th time by the Foundation for the Turkic World Research (TDAV) was organized under H.E. President Abdullah Gül’s aegis from May 24 to June 15, 2010 in Istanbul.

Several activities were held during the festival which aims at enabling children in the Turkic Republics and communities to get to know Turkey better, to meet their brothers and sisters from the four corners of the world, providing them with cultural exchange and making families from all over the Turkish world friends with each other.

48th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

The 48th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey was launched with the participation of 200 athletes from 25 teams in the southeastern province of Alanya on April 22nd.

During the tour with 8 stages which is held in the 2nd Hors Class category and which will end on April 29th, 25 teams, 9 of which are professional, 14 of which are professional continental teams and two of which are from Turkey will compete for the cup and the athletes will run 1,874 km during the tour.

Participating teams in the race are Ag2r-La Mondiale, Astana, Greenedge, Katusha, Lampre-ISD, Lotto-Belisol, Omega Pharma-Quick Step, Saxo Bank, Accent Jobs-Veranda Willems, Andalucia, Bretagne-Schüller, Caja Rural, Colnago-CSF Inox, Colombia-Coldeportes, Europcar, Farnese Vini-Italia, Project 1t4i, Rusvelo, Spidertech, Team Netapp, Team Type 1, UnitedHealthcare, Utensilnord-Named, Salcano-Arnavutköy and Konya-Torku Şekerspor.

Second International Cultural Congress in the Turkish World

Second International Cultural Congress in the Turkish World, under the aegis of H.E. President Abdullah Gül of the Republic of Turkey, was held from April 19-25, 2010 with the coordination of the Turkish Language Association (TDK) and Ege University Institute of the Turkish World Studies.

Among the subjects discussed during the congress were language, literature, folklore, history, geography, anthropology, international relations and culture. Lasting 7 days, this scientific congress was attended by Priority Countries for Development and leading Turkologists from other neighbouring countries. Over 400 scientists from 35 different countries made their presentations at the conference.
