Marmaris Okluk Cove State Guesthouse

Marmaris Okluk Cove State Guesthouse

The Eighth President Turgut Özal had the State Guesthouse located at the Okluk Cove in Marmaris constructed.

The Okluk Cove State Guesthouse, which was used frequently during the term of President Özal, welcomed and entertained many statesmen of the period, such as the UN Secretary General Perez de Cuellar, the Greek Prime Minister Constantine Mitsotakis, the Swedish, Italian and Russian prime ministers, the Norwegian and British foreign ministers and the brother of the King of Saudi Arabia.

The Okluk Cove State Guesthouse was not used during the terms of the Ninth President Süleyman Demirel and the Tenth President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.

The State Guesthouse at the Okluk Cove in Marmaris, which has an enchanting natural structure on 16 dönüms (one dönüm is equal to 1,000 meters square or about one-fourth of an acre), does not have the possibility for construction, because it is on a first degree Site area. The State Guesthouse at Okluk Cove is composed of a single story building with four bedrooms and a living room and of a prefabricated structure where the bodyguard personnel can stay and is on an area of 230 meters square.

The Guesthouse was allocated to the Presidential General Secretariat on 17 July 1991. There is a concrete wharf, which extends directly into the sea, and a helicopter panel, which is suitable for the landing of a single helicopter.
