First Lady Hayrünnisa Gül attended the Mid-term Review Conference of the Council of Europe Disability Action Plan for 2006-2015 held with the partnership between the Directorate General of Social Cohesion of the Council of Europe and the Presidency of Administration for Handicapped.
During the International Congress on Cultural Heritage and Music that the First Ladies of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Slovenia, Latvia and Macedonia attended to contribute to peace, Mrs. Gül reiterated: "If we could teach our children that diversity means richness, the world would be a better place to live in."
Launched under the aegis of First Lady Hayrünnisa Gül, the ceremony for the 81 Stars from 81 Provinces Project during which this year's stars were introduced was held at the Çankaya Presidential Palace.
Delivering a speech at the ceremony held on the occasion of the First Anniversary of the "Education Enables" campaign, the First Lady exclaimed: "Trust and encourage your children to cling to life and let them receive education!"
The Presidential Grand Awards in Art and Culture were presented to Uğur Derman for traditional arts, to Nuri Bilge Ceylan for cinema and to Güler Sabancı as the representative of the Sakıp Sabancı Museum in the branch of the Institute of Art and Culture.
