4th OIC Extraordinary Summit Launched in Mecca

The 4th Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has been launched. The member countries are tackling the challenges and problems Muslim countries are faced with such as the ongoing incidents in Syria, Palestine, Myanmar, Sudan and Mali.

The leaders including President Abdullah Gül had a family photo taken prior to the plenary session. During the summit where King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia delivered the keynote speech, Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoğlu of the OIC also made a speech.

The member countries are tackling the challenges and problems Muslim countries are faced with such as the ongoing incidents in Syria, Palestine, Myanmar, Sudan and Mali. They are also evaluating the possible tangible steps for the resolution of these problems.

President Gül is sharing his views on both regional and international developments with his counterparts during his tete-a-tetes with them.

Participating leaders in the summit are Kings of Bahrain and Jordan, Presidents of Egypt, Pakistan, Yemen, Tunisia, Nigeria, Chad, Afghanistan, Somalia, Gabon, Sudan, Bangladesh, Uganda, the Prime Minister of Malaysia and Foreign Ministers of a number of countries.
