
President Abdullah Gül welcomed his Zambian counterpart, Rupiah Bwezani Banda with an official ceremony at the Çankaya Presidential Palace.
Having had a tete a tete, the two Presidents chaired the talks between the delegations and held a joint press conference. President Abdullah Gül gave an official dinner for his Zambian counterpart at the Residence.
Continuing his program in Istanbul on Tuesday, July 13, President Banda attended the Turkey-Zambia Business Forum on July 14 and the next day, he left Turkey for Zambia.
Prior to the press conference, three agreements had been signed between Turkey and Zambia:
A Memorandum of Understanding between the two Foreign Ministries on Establishing a Political Consultation Mechanism; A Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s Foreign Service Training Center and the Zambian Foreign Ministry’s Institute for Diplomacy and International Studies on Training Diplomats and an Air Transport Agreement between the Governments of Turkey and Zambia.
President Banda’s visit has a particular importance as this was the first Presidential visit from Zambia to Turkey.
