President Abdullah Gül paid an official visit to Estonia between October 9 and 11 at the invitation of Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves. Mr. Gül was greeted by Mr. Ilves in an official welcoming ceremony on Friday, October 10. The delegations of both countries, headed by their respective presidents, had talks before holding a joint press conference.
Mr. Gül attended a meeting of the Turkish/Estonian Business Council at the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Later, Mr. Gül attended a lunch hosted by the Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip in his honour and met with the Speaker of the Estonian Parliament Ene Ergma, before visiting the exhibition entitled "Turkey 85 – Estonia 90: A Friendship Through Time" held at the National Library.
Mr. Gül presented the Estonian Poet and Translator Ly Seppelin Ehin with the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eminent Services Certificate and Plaque for translation Turkish works into Estonian.
Mr. Gül attended the dinner held by Mr. Ilves in his honour, and he returned to Ankara on Saturday, October 11.
