President Abdullah Gül paid a visit to Kazakhstan between July 4 and 6, at the invitation of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, to attend the festivities celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Kazakh capital city of Astana.
Before visiting the Turkish Embassy in Astana, Mr. Gül met with Turkish businessmen operating in Kazakhstan. Mr. Gül attended the ceremonies as a guest of honour.
During his visit, Mr. Gül held bilateral talks with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, Tajik President Imamali Rahmanov, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Mr. Gül also conversed briefly with Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan.
Following the ceremonies, Mr. Gül returned to Ankara on Sunday, July 6.
