The message by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on occasion of the 93rd anniversary of signing of the Lausanne Peace Treaty is as follows:
“Today is the 93rd anniversary of signing of the Lausanne Peace Treaty, the founding document of our Republic.
With the Lausanne Treaty, the victory our august nation gained with sacrifices, courage and faith was carried to and registered at the area of diplomacy and international law.
This treaty is the title deed of our newly founded state.
The content of the Lausanne Treaty and the value of the fundamental principles of the Republic of Turkey, particularly national will and democracy, are much better understood today.
Our august nation has once again showed during the recent incidents that they will respond to any coup attempt against their will, executed by the hand of the representatives they elect, in unity, solidarity and in the spirit of the struggle for independence.
The fact that our nation took a noble and determined stand against treacherous attempts by different circles is the clearest proof that our country will, in the upcoming period, advance on the path of democracy, freedom and development.
No power or circle will be able to deter the Republic of Turkey, which has become the 6th biggest economy in Europe and 17th in the world in the 93 years that passed since then, from achieving its goals for 2023 and advancing towards its visions for 2053 and 2071.
On the 93rd anniversary of the Lausanne Peace Treaty, I remember the architects of this treaty, particularly the founder of our Republic Gazi Mustafa Kemal and all our statesmen with grace.”
