Issuing a statement on the bomb attack that took place in Ankara, President Erdoğan said: “Those, who think they can steer our country and our nation away from their goals by using terrorist organizations, will see they are mistaken.”
In his statement, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said: “A bomb attack, targeting vehicles carrying personnel of the Turkish Armed Forces, took place at 6.31 p.m. on February 17, 2016 on Inonu Boulevard in Ankara. May Allah’s grace be upon our citizens and personnel of the Turkish Armed Forces, who lost their lives in this attack. I extend my condolences to their relatives and our nation. I wish a speedy recovery to the personnel of the Turkish Armed Forces and our citizens, who were injured in the same attack. Addition of new ones to our losses in our struggle against terror wounds our nation’s heart and challenges our patience. We will continue our struggle against these pawns, which carried out these attacks that had no moral or humane boundaries, and the powers behind them every day in a more determined manner.
“TURKEY WILL NOT HESITATE TO USE ITS LEGITIMATE RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF ALWAYS AND EVERYWHERE”
Our resolve to respond in kind to these attacks targeting our unity, solidarity and future both in Turkey and abroad grows stronger with such actions. It must be known that Turkey will not hesitate to use its legitimate right to defend itself always, everywhere and under any circumstances. Those, who think they can steer our country and our nation away from their goals by using terrorist organizations, will see they are mistaken. Every single one of our martyrs and veterans proves that these lands are our eternal homeland, our flag will fly forever, our azans (call for prayer) can never be silenced, our country can never be divided and our state will always prevail. Turkey, which has a long history, filled with painful experiences, of struggling against terror, will overcome these attacks. The losses, we suffered during the last attack and in previous attacks and clashes, tear our hearts out but also sharpen our resolution and impel us to exert more efforts. I once again wish Allah’s grace upon our citizens and personnel of the Turkish Armed Forces, who lost their lives in the bomb attack in Ankara and a speedy recovery to the injured.”
